Eleven Hill Country river cabin packages to reserve from Austin

This catalog gathers the Hill Country river cabin packages our Austin office plans and reserves: eleven stays at lodges, inns and cabin resorts on eight rivers, from a cottage in Wimberley under an hour away to a two-bedroom cabin on the Frio more than three hours west. Each row shows the river, the nights, the drive and a from price for two people sharing.

Prices run from $100 per person for two nights at Junction or Bend to $385 per person for three nights at Concan, before tax and confirmed in the written quote. The rows are ordered by water: stays on spring-fed rivers come first, because those rivers hold most of their May flow through August, and stays on rain-fed rivers follow, at their best in spring and after fall rain. The guide to eight rivers compares their seasons.

How the August share of May's water is measured for each river

For every river we use the nearest USGS gauge and its record from 1996 through 2025. We take the middle value of the monthly mean flow for May and for August, then divide August by May. The Comal at New Braunfels keeps 87% of its May water and runs at nearly one level all summer. The Pedernales at Johnson City keeps 7%, which is why we plan that cabin for spring.

Rivers at 62% or higher form the spring-fed group; rivers at 34% or lower form the rain-fed group, and the list descends within each. Concan and Leakey read from one gauge, the Frio at Concan, so they share a number; Concan, lower on the river, is listed first.

The number describes a typical year. This fall has been dry: in the 30 days to October 29, provisional gauge readings put the Blanco at Wimberley near 6 cubic feet per second (cfs), the standard measure of river flow, against an October median of 46. Water in the Hill Country follows rain, so every written quote reports how the river is running that week.

Lodge nights in, hotel tax and tubes out

Each figure starts with the lodge's nightly rate, multiplied by the nights in that stay, plus any charge the lodge makes mandatory. The total for two is rounded up to the next $10, and the per-person figure is half of it, rounded up to the next $5. The Comal lodge room, three nights at $129, comes to from $390 for two, or from $195 per person. Rates were read on October 30, 2026,; the full pricing table shows every line.

On the Concan and Leakey rows the lodges' cleaning and resort charges are counted as office estimates, $60 and $50, until the lodge states them in writing, and on the Wimberley row the nightly rate itself is our working figure. Every row is confirmed only in the written quote for your real dates. Outside every figure:

  • Texas state hotel tax of 6% and any local hotel tax, which the lodge adds at checkout and the quote shows separately
  • The drive there and back in your own car
  • Meals, groceries and anything bought on the river
  • Tubes, boats and park entry from local outfitters or parks
