When to call a travel agent in Austin, and when to write a reservation request
Some people like to call a travel agent in Austin and talk a river trip through out loud; others would rather put the dates in writing and read the answer later. Both routes reach the same small office in west Austin, and both lead to the same written quote naming the lodge, the nights and the figure for those dates.
The phone, the address and the weekly hours come first, just below this text. After them comes what each route is good for.

Talking a river trip through by phone
A call suits the traveler who has not settled on a river yet, or who wants to hear how a dry autumn is treating the Blanco and the Pedernales before choosing a month. Calls are picked up Tuesday through Saturday during the daytime hours shown above.
A call costs nothing and holds nothing. If the conversation ends with a stay in mind, the office asks that lodge about the nights and sends the answer by email, so you have the details in writing before saying yes.
Dates, guest count and river in your first email
Written requests can be sent 24/7, through the request form or by email. A request that reaches the office by 1 p.m. on a phone day is answered in writing by 4 p.m. that same day; one that comes in later, or on a Sunday or Monday, is answered by 4 p.m. on the next phone day.
These details let the first answer be a real one:
- What you want from the water: cold clear swimming, floating or paddling, or a porch and a quiet bank
- The stay or river you have in mind, or a note asking for help choosing
- The month you hope to arrive and how many nights, from two to six
- How many adults are coming
- Anything the lodge should know ahead of time, such as a third guest in the room
Visiting the Exposition Boulevard office by arrangement
The office is in Suite 105 on Exposition Boulevard, near Tarrytown. Visits happen by appointment, so call or write first and a time will be set aside for you.
Whichever way you reach the office, the order afterward is the same: the lodge is asked about your nights, you get one written quote, and only after your written yes does the office ask the lodge to hold them in your name. You then pay the lodge directly and check in at its own front desk. The seven steps from request to check-in lay this out in full.
